AKA 'Mandy'. She is a year old now. An absolute delight to have around. Such a happy spirit at all times. When we got her last year, Mikey wanted NOTHING to do with her for the first two weeks. Now they play something fierce everyday. Mandy loves to pulverize dog toys. I don't mind that at all, since she hasn't discovered 'Furniture' like most puppies do. Happy Birthday little one!

My First Fondant Cake!

This was a FUN thing to do! I am so hooked on Ace of Cakes on Food Network....I've learned a thing or two! So I attempted my first Fondant Cake! I used a marshmallow fondant recipe that I found online. What a chore that was. I need to try other recipes out. But what I REALLY would like to do is to be NEXT to a fondant expert and learn how to make GREAT fondant....how to roll it out...drape it on the cake....I want to do better! But I have to admit...my first cake did turn out pretty good if I might say so! I did kinda go overboard with the flowers and leaves....but hey!

Minkee Safari

I LOVE working with Minkee fabric!! I participated in a Block-of-the-Month with Patches. We were to provide our own background fabric. I decided to have fun and take the chance with Minkee. It stretches something awful if you are not careful. It helped that I ironed on the back a lightweight fusible interfacing. The fabric series is named 'Sssssilly Safari'. So 'Minkee Safari' was born!
Stump the Quilt
4th of July Owie

Tree was sooo anxious to learn how to whittle. His older brother already has his own pocket knife given to him by Pappy. Tree had asked Pappy for his 'own' pocketknife and Pappy was all too happy to give him one. We spent the 4th of July weekend out at the farm. Herc taught Tree how to whittle by using fresh cut bamboo. All was well. Until....Smyly rushed into the trailer to grab Herc's car keys....I saw her rushing back with his med bag. Oh dear. I went to find out who got hurt. Herc was washing Tree's bloody hand. He had cut his middle finger on his left hand. We never got it out of him what happened, and he doesn't know what happened. So, here is a photo....you are warned!

QuiltMobile

My boys are in Cub Scouts. They had their Pine Wood Derby races back in the Spring. The folks at church thought it was such a fun thing that they couldn't just limit it to the Cub Scouts. So they created a fund-raising activity that anyone at church could enter a Pine Wood Derby. I took advantage of it and made my own....'QuiltMobile'! It was so fun to make. I came in 2nd place in the adult division. My daughter came in first in the Young Men/Young Womens division. We had soooo much fun!

Lily's Pad

While we were down in Pensacola, we gave Lily her quilt. Lily is Jason's daughter and Janet's Granddaughter. She is a sweet little girl. I used the Yellow Brick Road Pattern for this quilt. For those that know this pattern, can you see the two oops I did in the quilt? *LOL* Smyly came up with the name for the quilt....Lily's Pad. Cute eh?
Water Bottle Bouquet

When we returned home from Pensacola from a weekend at Herc's sisters house, we got a phone call from my sister to let us know that Momma was in the Hospital. I wasn't too happy to hear about that, but after hearing more to why she was in the Hospital, I was relieved it wasn't worse that it was. She just couldn't keep anything down and got very dehydrated. I went to visit her the next day and took her a Water Bouquet that I made for her that morning. Thought she needed water more than she needed flowers! *grin* Come to find out, she had an acute viral infection. She was released that day I saw her and guess she was feeling much better since she went to the farm with Daddy!

"Quilting" on wooden letters

I saw this idea on another blog somewhere, it was a scrapbooking blog and I thought it was just so
cute that I couldn't resist making me a 'Quilt' one. I waited for the sales at Hobby Lobby and bought the letters. Primed them white and lightly sanded them. I punched out the squares so they would all be uniform. It is really cute. Now to put it up on my wall in my sewing room.

Twisted Bargello

Last weekend I was up in Lapeer, MI at a Deaf Quilters Retreat. I worked myself to the bone to get the Twisted Bargello done. I was soooo happy to finish with it at 1am on Saturday night. I purchased the border(s) fabric on Tuesday and will put them on soon. First have to finish up a few other things first that has a time deadline. Hope everyone has a wonderiffic day!
